CEO’s Corner

Sherita M. Hinkson, a Philadelphia native, has dedicated her career to empowering children and families through behavioral health services. After earning her Bachelor’s of Science in Sociology from West Chester University, she began her journey as a Caseworker at Children and Youth Services, where she discovered her passion for helping children. Determined to make a greater impact, Sherita pursued a Master’s in Social Work from Widener University (2002) and transitioned into therapeutic roles, serving as a Behavior Specialist Consultant with respected agencies such as Northeast Treatment Centers, Child Guidance, Devereux, and Elwyn. It was during this time that she found her calling in working with children diagnosed with Autism and other behavioral challenges. Sherita’s commitment to understanding and supporting children with Autism led her to pursue licensure with the Board of Medicine in 2014, officially becoming a Licensed Behavior Specialist (LBS). Her dedication extended beyond just a career—it became her mission to unlock each child’s unique way of communicating and learning. Her passion for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Verbal Behavior Therapy (VBT) deepened as she witnessed the profound progress children made, often learning to communicate in just a few months. Inspired by these breakthroughs, she founded SMJ Behavioral Consultants, LLC. in 2018 to provide high-quality, evidence-based ABA therapy to children and families. In 2024, SMJ proudly celebrated its 5th Anniversary and is now setting its sights on expanding nationally, continuing Sherita’s mission of making a difference—one child, one family at a time.

In 2025 SMJ Behavioral Consultants plans to become a National Provider!
